Photos & Inspiration

An outdoor experience that helped me heal from the loss of my son was to undertake a Big Year of birding. In April of 2016 I decided to travel to some beautiful natural settings in Ohio and around the country and count the different species of birds I saw. This is a familiar activity in the bird watching community, made popular by movie and book, The Big Year.  In addition to being a therapeutic endeavor, I was able to raise $14,000 for cancer research.

The inspiration for developing this program was started by my son, Joe Blanda, who passed away from brain cancer in 2015.
